Now, I like to tell you about Horizon Lanka. But, both Sri Lankans and foreigners already know about Horizon Lanka. Horizon Lanka was born in 1998. Its founder is Mr. Nandasiri Wanninayake. Horizon Lanka Foundation (HLF) is more useful to Mahavilachchiya villagers. Horizon Lanka Academy gives ICT and English training for village children. Students are given computer training on both hardware and software at the Horizon Lanka. They are exposed to new technology and are expected to share that knowledge. Thy can use computers during their school vacations too. And they can improve their ICT skills.

Villagers and village children can use to internet at Horizon Lanka. Horizon Lanka expect to give the online experiences to all the village children. Horizon Lanka was able to provide internet access to 30 household and two public schools free of charge by mesh technology in 2006. The president’s secretory Mr. Lalith Weerathunga and launched mesh network on 4th November in 2006.

Now, Horizon Lanka is getting ready to give to internet facilities to more village houses by using new technology.

Horizon Lanka foundation gives to facilities to villagers. There are communication facilities, internet facilities, job opportunities and many modern facilities. HFL help to village farmers to market their agricultural products at a good price. And helps community based organizations.

The villagers thanks to the Horizon Lanka Foundation and Mr. Nandasiri Wanninayake. Because we know we got all these facilities due to HLF and Mr. Wanninayake.

Mahavilachchiya is a village. It is situated in Anuradhapura district the North central province. There are 800 families live in Mahavilachchiya. The most of the people are farmers. Other people are doing jobs as government servants, soldiers, civil security force members, policemen, etc.

Once upon a time Mahavilachchiya was rural village. But now, it isn’t that rural. Now, it is a developing village. Now Mahavilachchiya have communication facilities, internet facilities and many other modern facilities.

This village children are very lucky, because they have fourteen schools for their studies. They can learn freely. Some student can hae internet access their home. This chance was given by Horizon Lanka Academy. Horizon Lanka Academy helps both village children and villagers. They can learn computers, English and have internet access at Horizon Lanka Academy.

Mahavilachchiya has a big reservoir. It is Mahavilachchiya wewa. And it supplies water to the paddy fields. There are more small reservoir in Mahavilachchiya.

I sat for advanced level exam in 2008. My subjects are Sinhala, Political Science and Buddhist civilization. I had three Bs for these subjects. But I can’t go to university this year. I am sad about it. But it is not my tault. It is the government’s problems. A lot of students can’t enter too university in Sri Lanka though they. Obtain the right marks due to high compitition in universities. Government should take actions for more space for the students who pass the university entrance exam. Though I was turned down. I never stopped my target. I am doing a/L exam again in 2009. And. I will try to go to university. Horizon Lanka Academy helps a lot for my education. Now, I am learning computers and English at HLA. And I expect to do a computer degree in future. I like computers very much. I like to help young students in Horizon Lanka Academy. And I like doing a job in the computer field. I want to be a good citizen.

Anuradhapura is an ancient city. It is situated in North Central Province. Anuradhapura is the first kingdom of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura has ancient ruins. Ruwanwaliseya, Mirisawatiya, Lowamahapaya and more places situated in Anuradhapura. And old arts have in Anuradhapura. Isurumuni pem yuwala (lovers of Isurumuniya ) is best icon of Anuradhapura’s sculptures.

Anuradhapura has many tanks. They are Tisa wewa, Nuwara wewa and Kala wewa and many others.

The oldest treea recorded with history is situated in Anuradhapura. It is ‘Srima Boodhiya’’.many people visit Anuradhapura.they are both Sri Lankans and foreigners. Foreigners prefer to visit Anuradhapura city.

Anuradhapura is a world heritage. And our duty is to protect ancient city. Anuradhapura is an important city for the world.

 27th of January in 2009 Miss Niki from Beijing china came to Horizon Lanka Academy. Niki is a Chinese girl. She is twenty one years old. Now, she is studying in university. She is a kind person. My friends and I talked with Nike. She told about her with us. 

That day is interesting day for us. She and us worked with computers that day. And we walked to some places in our village. And we spent that day very happily.
 

I am Anusha Priyadarshani. Now I am nineteen years old. I have one brother and one sister. They are students. My brother and sister play with me. Sometime, we are good friends. I help my brother and sister for their studies. We spend our life very happily. My father is a farmer. My mother is a housewife. They are very kind parents. They work hard to make our future beautiful. It is dream of our parents. We live very happily and we enjoy our life. I did Advance Level exam in 2008. My subjects were Sinhala, Buddhist Civilization and Political Science. My favorite subject is Political Science. I had three Bs for my A/L subjects. But I expect to do Advance Level exam again this August. And I expect got good results and enter university. I am getting ready for it. I work hard for my A/L exam. I know, whoever studies well, will pass the exam. I like to read books, newspapers and watching television. It is very useful for my studies. I expect to do a sound job in the future. My one and only hope to be a good citizen.

Since I got good results for the O/L exam, in 2006, I began following classes for the Advanced Level.  I have chosen Political Science, Sinhala & Buddhist Civilization as my subjects. My favorite subjects are political science. I hope these subjects will be useful in my future endeavors. I am already working very hard for the exam by writing answers and reading extra books. I will be sitting for the Advanced Level exam in 2008.

I teach computers to my sister and brother. My hobbies are dancing and reading books. It is very interesting. I think it is good to improve our knowledge. Our village is Mahavilachchiya. My ambition is become to political teacher, because I like political science.   

Family

There are 5 members in my family. They are mother, father, sister, brother and me. My brother and sister are younger than me. That means I am the eldest in my family. Ours is a small family and we live peacefully and happily. My father is Jayantha and he is a farmer. My mother is Sriyani and she is a housewife. My sister is Hansani. She is a student. My brother is Chanaka and he is a student. My parents always help me in my education. They do their best to give me a good education.

Hobbies 

Everyone has a hobby. It helps to keep a good and healthy lifestyle. My hobbies are dancing, playing, reading books, and using computers. There are very enjoyable. I like very much. Playing improves our health. I play with my brother and sister everyday. I also play with my friends. We get happiness from dancing and animals. I read schoolbooks, storybooks, novels and many others. I have a few storybooks of my own. Computers help in my hobbies. I like to read newspapers. I read newspapers at internet. We also do dancing here. I like folkdances very much. And I like kandiyan dances. I like my hobbies very much. 

Academy  

 I like to learn. Now I am doing A/L . I have to face a big challenge next year. It is the A/L examination. I study everyday and work hard to pass it. My subjects are Sinhala, Buddhist Civilization. Political and General English. There are subject most useful to us. My favorite subject is Buddhist Civilization. At Horizon Lanka Academy we learn Information and Communication Technology. It is fun to learn at Horizon Lanka Academy.
